Alfonso is a multifacetic artist: Actor, Performer, Writer, Speaker and Life Coach.
Alfonso has awarded a European Mention PhD by Santiago de Compostela University. Alfonso is a graduate of Physical Theatre from the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Madrid, Spain, (1999-2003) and Masters Degree in Movement Studies at CentralSchool of Speech and Drama (2006-2007). He completed the program of European Theatre Arts during an Erasmus-Exchange at Rose Bruford College, London (2001-2002). He also holds a postgraduate diploma from the Scuola Internazionale di Commedia dell´Arte Venezia, Italy (2003). He was awarded a national grant of excellence to study at the Ecole de Mime Corporel Dramatique L´Ange Fou (2004-2005), London, where he trained in corporal mime (Decroux´s technique) with Etienne Decroux´s last assistants, Steve Watson and Corinne Soum. He got specialized in Lecoq pedagogy in the Advanced Devising Practice program at LISPA, Berlin (2017).
He worked as staring actor in several theatrical productions in Madrid working with prestigious directors such as Ernesto Caballero, Guillermo Heras, Eusebio Lázaro, Ignacio García May and Natalia Menéndez. He works professionally as an actor in London with international companies such as Zecora Ura (Hotel Medea, Don't feed the Lions) and stars in the film "An Ape called Man" (2005). In Spain he made more than 12 theatrical productions with the company El Gato Negro with which he received the prestigious Prize for Young Creators of the Community of Madrid (2003), as well as honorable mentions in the Istrapolitan Festival of Bratislava (Slovakia) and the Peer Gynt Award (Norway). He also works in television productions such as "La Aventura del saber" (TV2) and "Memoria de España" (TV1). Alfonso has worked professionally in countries such as Spain, England, Scotland, Norway, Poland, Czech Republic and Romania. He is also the author of the dramatic works of Luna (2003) and O Milagre da Boneca (2008), Vincent (2014).
Alfonso has also published the book of acting technique The way of the actor through psycho-physical training (Antígona, 2017) and "Physical Theatre; the Revolution of Shapes" (Fundamentos, 2019).
After receiving intensive training with several representative practitioners of butoh dance practitioners (Yumiko Yoshioka, Katsura Kan, Wendel Wells, Minako Seki, Atsushi Takenouchi, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie) has develloped his own taste of physical-theatre butoh orientated. Other training includes several intensive workshops with the Polish physical theatre company The Song of the Goat and The Grotowski Work Institute, Wroclaw (Poland). He has toured internationally with the Spanish physical theatre company Gato Negro performing Pedro in Un Tal Pedro, a contemporary version of Peer Gynt by Ibsen, and winning several international awards as “Premio Jóvenes Creadores de la Comunidad de Madrid” (2003), “Istrapolitana Internatinal Festival” (2005), Bratislava, and the “Peer Gynt Award” (2005), Norway. Winner of the 1st Award Xuventude Crea 2014, Galicia for “Vincent”.
Alfonso has lead workshops in movement, mime and physical theatre, teaching at a number of schools including Central School of Speech and Drama (London), The Academy of the Science of Acting and Directing (London), Rose Bruford College (London), Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Madrid (Spain), Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Vigo (Spain), Facultad de Música de León (Spain), Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (Rumania), Anadolu University (Turkey).
